You may eat and drink at your seat, including alcohol. Keep conversations and device audio low. In ordinary Shinkansen cars, take voice calls in the deck/vestibule rather than at your seat and use headphones for audio. The main exception is designated S Work cars on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen, where calls and web meetings are permitted at the seat with consideration for others. Trash bins are available in the front and rear end of each car. You will also find large garbage containers on the platform, so please make use of those as well. Please be mindful not to leave any trash inside the train.
